Extremely Helpful Book!

This book is very easy to use. The names are organized according to alphabet instead of by other headings. Of all the books my husband and I have used, this is by far our favorite. I would highly recommend this book!

interesting read

generally a great book. i just had my 4th daughter and after reading this book i named her Haylee. her sisters are Maddison, Alice and Mackenzie-Grace. this book gave me my inspiration.

Basic name book but better

I have seen many books of baby names, but I really like this one. First of all, the layout is bright and clean. Secondly, it has over 25,000 names to choose from, complete with the origin and meaning of nearly every name in the book. It is also filled with "favorite name" lists from the early part of the century to present. Finally, the author puts her personal comments and stories relating to places she has seen certain names used. She is both witty and funny; it makes the tedious task of reading 25,000+ names interesting and entertaining!

Great and unique

Overall, this is a fabulous book that offers what most baby name books don't (related names that you might like if you like a particular name, categories that are cross-listed to lists in the back, nicknames, popularity - current and past, etc.). The only drawbacks are that it doesn't give meanings for many names (but hey - you can get those in any other book), and the binding (on our copy, anyway) didn't hold up as well as it could have. Still, it's our favorite book so far, and offers lots of tips for finding the perfect name for your baby.

Excellent sibling name ideas

I loved this book! It helped my husband and I understand the emotional reasons we liked (or didn't like) names. It also has a great section on sibling naming considerations. Loved it!!

The Most Comprehensive Book Available!!!

I have found this book to be invaluable! It isn't your typical "dictionary" of names! It is absolutely a blast to read! It helps to make choosing your child's moniker so simple! Ethnic names, turn of the century names, TOO popular names, Celtic or Welsh names! Everything you could want is in this book! What not to name your baby now, things to watch out for...the list goes on and on and so could I! If you only buy one naming book...make it THIS ONE!!! It's been my naming 'bible' for four years now!

Simply great!

The book is organized SO well and is a very easy read! Broken down into fun categories. No, it doesn't have the traditional meanings, but that's not something I need or care about. The more important thing is how the name sounds. This book has a fresh, modern approach. SO much better than those books that just LIST every name known to man!
